  • The Unwinding, National Book Award Winner for Nonfiction, will be released in paperback March 4.
  • National Book Award YPL Finalist Far Far Away, by Tom McNeal, nominated for a 2014 Edgar Award for best YA mystery.
  • Longlists  for 2014 Carnegie Medals for Excellence in fiction and nonfiction includes two NBA Winners, three Finalists, and two Longlisted Fiction Honorees.

BookUp, NBF's after-school reading program for middle schoolers, traveled to Harlem earlier this month to visit the NYPL's Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Highlights of the afternoon included the reading of a Langston Hughes poem, a tour of the Schomburg's delightful cartoon exhibition Funky Turns 40, and lunch at Harlem's famed Spoonbread.  
EAT, DRINK & BE LITERARY WITH SALMAN RUSHDIE

An evening with Salman Rushdie kicked off NBF's 10th season of Eat, Drink & Be Literary, a series of dinners and discussion with great authors at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.  An audio recording of Rushdie's lively conversation with New Yorker fiction editor Deborah Treisman is available on Soundcloud.  
STRAUSS ZELNICK JOINS NBF BOARD

A recognized leader in the media and entertainment industry, Strauss Zelnick has held top executive positions in the recorded music, television, video, motion picture, and entertainment software industries. "Strauss Zelnick's experience with a spectrum of contemporary media will bring an important new dimension to the Foundation's board," says NBF executive director Harold Augenbraum.
